What a home charger install costs

Three fixed-scope packages cover most homes in Melbourne's west and north. Here's what's included, and what can move the number.

Pricing unlocked. For an exact price for your home, request a quote.

What's in every quote

Labour, materials, testing and paperwork. The only thing not included is the charger itself if you're supplying your own.

  • Cable, conduit, circuit breaker and fittings
  • Mounting where you park, at a height that suits
  • Full testing and a walkthrough of your charger
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety, issued on the day
  • No travel fee anywhere in our service area

What can change the price

  • Cable runs over 5m. A garage far from the switchboard needs more cable and conduit.
  • Switchboard capacity. Some pre-2000 homes need an upgrade or load management.
  • Trenching or tricky access. Detached garages and double-brick walls take more work.

If any of these apply, we tell you in your quote. The price you agree to is the price you pay.

A note on rebates

There's currently no direct Victorian government rebate for home EV charger installation. Some energy retailers offer incentives for smart chargers or EV-friendly tariffs, and we're happy to point you to anything current for your setup.

Running costs

Charging at home on an off-peak or EV tariff typically costs a fraction of a tank of petrol. A 7kW charger adds 25–40km of range per hour, so a few off-peak hours each night covers most Melbourne commutes.
