Pricing & quotes

How much does EV charger installation cost in Melbourne?

Most homes fit one of three fixed-scope packages: install only (you supply the charger), supply and install, or charger plus switchboard upgrade. The final figure depends on the charger, the cable run from your switchboard, and whether switchboard work is needed. See the packages, or request a quote for an exact price. We flag anything that could shift the price before we start, never after.

Is there a fee to get a quote?

No. Tell us your car, suburb and a couple of details and we'll email a quote. No call-out fee, no obligation, and nobody turns up uninvited.

What's included in the price?

All labour and materials (cable, conduit, circuit breaker and fittings), installation, testing and the Certificate of Electrical Safety. The only thing not included is the charger if you're supplying your own.

Are there government rebates in Victoria?

There's currently no direct Victorian government rebate for home EV charger installation. Some energy retailers offer smart-charger incentives, and we can point you to current options for your setup.

The installation

Who carries out the installation?

An A-Grade licensed, insured Victorian electrician from our vetted network who installs EV chargers regularly. We coordinate everything, from your quote to booking and follow-up, so you have one point of contact.

How long does installation take?

A standard install takes 2–4 hours. If a switchboard upgrade is needed, allow 4–6 hours. Your quote includes a time estimate.

Do I need to be home?

Someone needs to be home at the start to confirm access and the switchboard location. After that you don't need to supervise, and the electrician will walk you through the charger at the end.

Will my power be cut?

Briefly, usually 15–30 minutes while the new circuit is connected at the switchboard. You'll know in advance.

Can I choose where the charger goes?

Yes. It usually goes on the wall nearest where you park, balancing cable length, weather protection and a tidy finish.

Switchboards & charging speed

Do I need a switchboard upgrade?

Most homes built after 2000 don't. Newer estates in Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook, Wyndham Vale and Craigieburn are usually ready to go. We confirm it when we quote.

How much does a switchboard upgrade cost?

It depends on the size of the upgrade. It's always quoted separately, with a plain-English explanation of what's needed and why.

What if my switchboard has no spare room?

There are two options: load management, which keeps the charger within your home's existing capacity, or an upgrade to add space and capacity. We'll recommend the most cost-effective one.

How fast will I charge at home?

A single-phase 7kW charger adds roughly 25–40km of range per hour, or 200–320km overnight. For most Melbourne drivers that means a full battery every morning.

Can I just use a normal power point?

You can, but a standard 10A point adds only around 10km of range per hour and isn't designed for hours of continuous load. A dedicated wall charger is faster and safer for everyday use.

Cars & areas

Which EV brands do you install chargers for?

All of them: Tesla, BYD, MG, Hyundai, Kia, Polestar, Volvo, BMW and more. Every EV sold in Australia uses the Type 2 plug for home charging.

What's the difference between a Level 2 charger and a Tesla Wall Connector?

A Level 2 charger is a universal unit with a Type 2 plug that suits any EV, and we can supply one. The Tesla Wall Connector is Tesla's own hardware, which you buy and we install. Both charge at the same 7kW on single-phase power.

Which suburbs do you cover, and is there a travel fee?

Melbourne's west and north, including Tarneit, Truganina, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Werribee, Point Cook, Williams Landing, Manor Lakes, Craigieburn, Mickleham, Roxburgh Park, Mernda, South Morang, Wollert, Epping and Doreen. There's no travel fee anywhere in that area.
